Privacy notice

This notice explains how the Liberal Democrat Health and Care Association (LDHCA) uses the information you give us when you join our mailing list or answer our surveys.

Who we are
LDHCA is an association of Liberal Democrat members with an interest in health and social care. We decide how your data is used. Contact us at help@ldhealthandcare.org. LDHCA is part of the Liberal Democrats. For how the party itself uses members’ data, see https://www.libdems.org.uk/privacy.

What we collect

  • Your name, prefix, suffix, and pronouns, if you give them
  • Your email address
  • Your Liberal Democrat membership number, state or region, and local party
  • Whether you’re a councillor
  • Anything you tell us in our surveys, such as your professional background or specialism

Your membership number shows you’re a member of a political party. The law treats this as special category data, so we only hold it with your explicit consent.

Why we use it

  • To send you news, events, and campaign emails
  • To confirm you’re a party member
  • To run LDHCA Exec elections
  • To put you in touch with Liberal Democrat MPs who want to consult members with your experience, if you agree

Our legal basis
We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on our join form or when you complete one of our surveys. You can withdraw it at any time. If an MP asks to contact you, we ask for your consent separately each time.

Who else handles it

  • Mailchimp (Intuit), which runs our mailing list. It stores data in the United States, under the UK-US data bridge, with Standard Contractual Clauses as a fallback
  • GoDaddy, which hosts our website and its form records
  • Typeform, which runs our surveys

All three act only on our instructions.

We never sell your data. Sometimes a Liberal Democrat MP asks to consult members with experience in a particular area. When that happens, we contact you first, and we only pass your name and email address to the MP if you agree. The MP then handles your details under their own privacy notice.

How long we keep it
We keep you on our mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. We delete the copy on our website once your details have been added to the mailing list. We keep survey answers for as long as they’re useful for our policy work, and delete them when you ask us to remove your details.

Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Email help@ldhealthandcare.org.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes
We’ll update this notice if anything changes. Last updated: October 2026.
